CD22 is a transmembrane protein called Siglec-2 which is expressed as transmembrane protein in B-cells (1). It plays a critical role in regulating B cell function by inhibiting co-receptor for B cell receptor (BCR)(2). Phosphorylation of CD22 at Tyr822 induces recruiting SHP-1 tyrosine phosphatase which in turn dephosphorylates Syk, leading to a decrease in B cell activation pathways (3).
Predicted to work with mouse, rat and other homologues.
